Tadalafil

Tadalafil is the active ingredient used in Cialis. It works in exactly the same way, but is available at a much lower cost. You order tadalafil online from our UK regulated pharmacy, and we will deliver it to you the next day, in plain and discreet packaging. Before you can purchase tadalafil, you will need to answer a series of medically related questions, similar to what you would get asked by your doctor. This allows our clinical team to make a decision on whether we can prescribe you with erectile dysfunction treatment.

What is tadalafil?

Tadalafil is a medication that is used to treat erectile dysfunction. It has the same active ingredient as Cialis, but it is the generic (non-branded) version. It is similar in nature to sildenafil, and belongs to the same class of drugs known as the PDE-5 inhibitors. Tadalafil has a much longer duration of action, and can last up to 36 hours. It can also be taken as an everyday treatment.

Tadalafil is available as two different options:
Tadalafil 2.5mg & 5mg - known as tadalafil daily
Tadalafil 10mg & 20mg - known as tadalafil 36 hour

What is the difference between Tadalafil daily and Tadalafil 36 hours?

Tadalafil Daily (2.5mg & 5mg)
Tadalafil Daily is available in 2.5mg and 5mg tablets. Tadalafil daily is taken continuously as opposed to right before sexual activity. This is best suited for those with a more spontaneous sex life.

Tadalafil 36 hour (10mg  & 20mg)
Tadalafil 36 hour is taken 30-60 minutes before sexual activity. Although it is not taken daily, men can still benefit from its lengthy duration of action which lasts for up to 36 hours.

How does tadalafil work?

Like Viagra, tadalafil works by causing your nervous system to release nitric oxide when sexually stimulated. A messenger known as cGMP is then produced, which causes blood to flow to your penis causing an erection. An enzyme called PDE-5 breaks this cGMP down, which prevents you from getting an erection. Tadalafil inhibits PDE-5 so that it cannot breakdown cGMP, so that an erection can be achieved.

How long does tadalafil take to work?

Tadalafil Daily (2.5mg & 5mg)
Tadalafil Daily is effective from around 3-5 days.

Tadalafil 36 hour (10mg & 20mg)
Tadalafil 10mg & 20mg should be taken 30-60 minutes before sexual activity

How long does tadalafil last?

Tadalafil Daily (2.5mg & 5mg)
Tadalafil daily's effect is continuous until it is stopped. It can provide an ongoing solution to erectile dysfunction, without having to worry about its effects wearing off.

Tadalafil 36 hour (10mg & 20mg)
Tadalafil 10mg & 20mg lasts for up to 36 hours. It's long window of action makes it a popular choice for those that wish to benefit from its long-lasting effects, without having to take a tablet every day.

How should I take tadalafil?

Tadalafil should be taken with a glass of water, around 30 minutes before intercourse, with or without food.

What dose of tadalafil should I take?

Tadalafil daily best suits those looking for a continued effect, providing a solution to spontaneous sexual activity. It is available as two strengths, 2.5mg and 5mg. It is recommended to take the 5mg tablet initially to begin with. The dose can always be reduced if you are experiencing any unwanted side-effects.
Tadalafil 36 hour has a lengthy duration of action and is the preferred option for men not wanting to take a daily tablet. It is available in two strengths, 10mg and 20mg. It is recommended to start with the 10mg tablet, in order to minimise the possibility of side-effects. If you find that you are not benefiting from the desired outcome, you should increase the dose to 20mg.

What is the difference between tadalafil and Cialis?

Tadalafil is the active ingredient used in Cialis, the branded version. The tablets may look slightly different, but they are pharmaceutically the same, sharing the same ingredients, which means they both work in the same way. The generic (unbranded) version will have gone through testing and been able to demonstrate that it is just as effective as the branded Cialis, before a license is issued.

Why is tadalafil cheaper then Cialis?

When developing a new drug, a huge amount of money is invested into the research and development of the medication. The clinical trials that take place before a new medication is given the green light, is often a timely and costly process. Not to mention the sum of money that goes into marketing the drug to doctors and health organisations. Generic manufacturers of tadalafil do not need to invest into similar processes, as this has already done by Eli Lilly (the company that developed Cialis in 2003). Because there are no costs to recover and the pharmaceutical ingredient is known, once the patent (sole rights held by Eli Lilly preventing other companies from replicating the drug) expired, other companies were free to manufacture tadalafil at a much lower cost. There are now a number of drug companies manufacturing generic tadalafil, which helps to keep its costs down.
Cialis was also the only 36 hour or continuous erectile dysfunction treatment on the market for a long time. This meant that they were able to command a high price. However, as the popularity of the generic form increases, we are likely to see a price drop in the branded version as a result.

Is tadalafil better than sildenafil (Viagra)?

Tadalafil appears to be more popular amongst many men in recent times. It has a quicker onset of action, longer lasting effect and a milder side-effect profile, which makes it is a more sought-after treatment. It also comes as a daily tablet for men looking for a continuous solution to ED, something that sildenafil (Viagra) doesn't offer.
However, many men are happy with sildenafil, finding that it works just fine for them. Sildenafil is cheaper than tadalafil, making it a preferred option for some.
Both tadalafil and sildenafil have been on the market for a number of years and they are both effective treatments for erectile dysfunction. No two individuals are the same and what you find works best for you, may not necessarily be the case for others. Therefore, it is important to find what works best for you.

Does tadalafil work?

Tadalafil has more than a 60% success rate in those that try it.

What if tadalafil is not working for me?

It is important to persist with the same treatment, so that your body has time to adjust to it. It may be a good idea to try taking tadalafil a full hour before sexual activity, or on an empty stomach.

Tadalafil is only effective where there is sexual arousal and it may be worth trying to find ways to achieve this. If you find that tadalafil is still not working for you, try increasing the dose. If you are already taking the maximum dose, it may be worth trying a different treatment. The most important thing to remember is not to give up as there is always a solution.

Is tadalafil safe?

Tadalafil has been and continues to be taken by millions of men around the world without a problem. To ensure tadalafil is taken safely, you must have assessment either online, or with a doctor. This eliminates any risks and ensures that tadalafil is taken in a safe way.

Who should not use tadalafil

You should speak to a doctor if you wish to take tadalafil and you have:

  • An allergy to tadalafil or any of the ingredients contained in it
  • Kidney or liver problems
  • A history of heart problems or cardiovascular disease
  • Very high or very low blood pressure
  • Visual or eye disturbances not including poor eyesight
  • Stomach ulcers
  • A bleeding disorder
  • An anatomical deformation of the penis

Can I take tadalafil if I am taking other medication?

Tadalafil is generally safe to take with most medication. You should speak to your doctor before taking tadalafil if you are taking:

  • Alpha blockers such as alfuzosin, doxazosin or tamsulosin
  • Medication to treat blood pressure
  • Any heart medication
  • Medication to treat epilepsy
  • Antifungal treatment
  • Crizotinib, enzalutamide, imatinib, nilotinib, idelalisib used to treat some cancers
  • HIV medication
  • Erythormycin, clarithromycin or rifampicin (antibiotics)
  • Netupitant or aprepitant used to treat sickness
  • Nitrates
  • St John's Wort
  • Sapropterin

If you are taking any of these medications, you may still be able to obtain tadalafil, but your doctor may wish to monitor you, or you may need to leave a gap before you take tadalafil.

Can I drink alcohol with tadalafil?

Moderate alcohol consumption whilst taking tadalafil is not likely to cause any interactions or cause any health risks. However, excessive consumption may lead to a drop in blood pressure, resulting in headache, dizziness, fainting or palpitations.
Excessive alcohol consumption can also affect the amount of blood that is available to your penis, which can make erectile dysfunction worse.
